The Gift is the Night Fury
So, I made this over the summer holidays during the start of this year and thought maybe I should post it because it turned out better than expected.
Following Sarselgurumi's pattern, it took me maybe 2-3 weeks? I didn't work on it with every spare second granted, but I did end up crocheting on trains and in cars quite a lot. This was my second attempt with the pattern; since this one was for one of my friends' birthday (October last year - I'm a bit late), I was rather pleased it turned out well.
I followed everything in the pattern except the ears (which I found too big and so decreased the size) and tail fins. The tail fins didn't really look movie-accurate, so I just made little triangles for the first pair and used a different pattern for the last pair (the pattern might be from tinyalchemy but I honestly can't remember).
The wings ended up really curly so I made them earlier on and left them under a stack of books while I worked on the rest of him. The front legs were also a little awkward and try as I might, they just kept on coming up non-identical; I sort of forgot what I did about that, but I'm pretty sure I just made do and tweaked the pattern just very slightly for each of the legs so they looked more similar.
For the eyes, I only had green felt, so I embroidered the black pupils on with yarn and then used a little white floss for the small round light reflections. One single eye is held on by a strand of black yarn (from the pupil) threaded into the head.
Then when I finished I had a photoshoot!

And then, because I had already got some of my HTTYD things out for the photoshoot, I thought I might as well have a picture of all of them together.
So I did.
(Mind you, I have more. But this is just everything that's not packed up in cardboard boxes in the garage.)
