Synopsis
Throughout the four-book saga, we follow the siblings Janner, Tink and Leeli in the world of Aerwiar as they are pursued from their home and across the continent by the vile antagonist, Gnag the Nameless. Accompanied by their mother, grandfather and various acquaintances along the way, each must face individual challenges and battles in order to overcome their enemy.
Bursting with irony, twists and mirth, an exciting tale of sacrifice, love, duty and identity is spun in this children's series, disclosing what true, brotherly love can do and what happens when the light refuses to stop shining.
Thoughts
This is one of my favourite books series! Touching, amusing, and meaningful, it has absolutely everything a good story needs. The character development of the three children will astound readers, while the engaging plot will captivate any young (or not so young) mind.
Peterson manages to craft his words in such a way that will bring readers to smiles, tears and sighs all at the same time. The Wingfeather Saga is packed full of deeper messages that everyone needs to hear, especially in such an age where love is so often distorted and self is so supportively idolised.
And even if you aren't looking for the meaning of life and simply wish to enjoy a good book, this series provides a light yet heartfelt story for all.
Recommendation
This saga is written for children; the language is incredibly easy to read, the plot can be understood without difficulty, and the characters are amusing and endearing.
Children as young as 7 can begin reading it, but, of course, it is just as fit to be read aloud to younger readers, or even by much older teens! For a clearer age range, however, I would suggest 7-14 year olds.
Go and read it!
